⏱ — min. Serves: —

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups water (more if needed)
  • Vegetable oil (for cooking)

Instructions

Prepare the Batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder.

Gradually add the water, whisking continuously, until you achieve a smooth, pourable batter. The consistency should be similar to that of pancake batter. Add more water if needed.

Heat the Pan

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it with vegetable oil.

Cook the Goraasa

Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the hot skillet, spreading it out into a thin, even layer, similar to making a crepe or pancake.

Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the goraasa is golden brown and cooked through.

Repeat with the remaining batter, adding more oil to the skillet as needed.

Serve

Goraasa is traditionally served with stews, soups, or as a side dish to various meals.

It can also be enjoyed on its own or with a drizzle of honey or a sprinkle of sugar for a sweet treat.

Enjoy your meal!
