Ingredients
Base Ingredients
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 cup whole wheat flour
• 1 tablespoon sugar
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
• 1 cup warm water (110°F or 45°C)
• 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
• 1 teaspoon ground cumin (optional, for flavor)
Preparation
Base Ingredients
In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water and add the yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, salt, and ground cumin (if using).
Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
Mix until the dough begins to come together. Turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 6-8 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Place a baking sheet or pizza stone in the oven to heat.
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 6-8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a flat, round shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
Carefully transfer the rolled dough onto the preheated baking sheet or pizza stone.
Bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the bread puffs up and turns golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Enjoy your meal!
