Ingredients
Base Ingredients
• 2 pounds (900 g) potatoes, peeled and grated
• 1 large onion, finely chopped
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 2 eggs
• 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 teaspoon dried thyme
• 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
• Salt and black pepper to taste
• Vegetable oil for frying
• Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Preparation
Prepare Potatoes:
After grating the potatoes, place them in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out as much excess moisture as possible.
Mix Ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, chopped onion, minced garlic, eggs, flour, baking powder, dried thyme, ground nutmeg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
Heat Oil:
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. The oil should be about 1/2 inch deep.
Fry the Gromperekichelcher:
Drop spoonfuls of the potato mixture into the hot oil, flattening them slightly with the back of the spoon to form small patties.
Fry the patties in batches, cooking for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
Drain and Serve:
Remove the patties from the oil and drain on paper towels.
Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
Enjoy your meal!
