Rinse the lutefisk under cold water to remove excess lye.
Soak the lutefisk in cold water for 4-6 days, changing the water daily to rehydrate the fish.
After soaking, drain the lutefisk and rinse it thoroughly.
Place the lutefisk in a pot of cold water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer gently for 10-15 minutes until the fish is tender and flakes easily.
Drain the lutefisk and season with salt.
