  • 1 cup milk (or coconut milk for a richer taste)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (or to taste)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2-3 whole cloves
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of nutmeg (optional)
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

Prepare the Cocoa

If using cocoa balls, grate or break them into smaller pieces. If using grated cocoa, proceed to the next step.

Cook the Cocoa

In a medium pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.

Add the grated cocoa (or pieces) to the boiling water. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add Spices and Sweetener

Add the cinnamon stick, whole cloves, and a pinch of salt to the pot. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes to infuse the flavors.
