⏱ — min. Serves: —

Ingredients

  • 2-3 cocoa balls or 1/2 cup grated cocoa (fresh or dried)
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup milk (or coconut milk for a richer taste)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (or to taste)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2-3 whole cloves
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of nutmeg (optional)
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

Prepare the Cocoa

If using cocoa balls, grate or break them into smaller pieces. If using grated cocoa, proceed to the next step.

Cook the Cocoa

In a medium pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.

Add the grated cocoa (or pieces) to the boiling water. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add Spices and Sweetener

Add the cinnamon stick, whole cloves, and a pinch of salt to the pot. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes to infuse the flavors.

Stir in the sugar to taste. Continue to simmer until the cocoa is fully dissolved and the mixture is well combined.

Add Milk

Pour in the milk (or coconut milk) and stir well. Heat the mixture until hot, but do not let it boil.

Finish and Serve

Remove the cinnamon stick and cloves.

Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of nutmeg if desired.

Serve

Pour the cocoa tea into mugs and enjoy it hot.

Enjoy your meal!
